**The Trauma and Resilience Center (TRC) is an outpatient clinic dedicated to providing specialized services for trauma survivors.**

**Position Summary:**

Under close direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support research projects.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a full-time Research Assistant. This position will assist with the assessment and treatment of trauma survivors. Position responsibilities include: coordinating participant recruitment, preparation of study materials, participant assessments, database management, and completing miscellaneous administrative tasks.

**Position Key Accountabilities:**

1. Manages databases with information collected from patients and study participants.

2. Conducts systematic literature searches.

3. Processes initial research protocols, continuing reviews of protocols, amendments and adverse events, and other reports.

4. Organizes and reviews study files as needed.

5. Enters and maintains complete and accurate human research data in database systems.

6. Communicates with vendors and administrators to obtain research materials and equipment.

7. Assists with the development of grant applications.

8. Assists with the submission of manuscripts.

9. As needed, coordinates the work of laboratory technicians, support staff and other assistants to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results. Answers questions or resolves problems regarding routine or more complex duties.

10. Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.

11. May participate in continuing education programs, workshops and seminars.

Qualifications include a preference for BA/BS in psychology or other scientific field, including coursework in research methods and/or statistics. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, conscientious, and possess strong organizational skills. Given the nature of the research being conducted, successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be sensitive to the needs of individuals with severe mental illness. This is an excellent position for a college graduate who is interested in gaining additional research experience before going on to graduate study in clinical psychology.

General knowledge of research fields.

**Minimum Education:**

Bachelor's degree in one of the basic sciences or relevant experience in lieu of education.

**Minimum Experience:**

No years of experience.

If filled at the II level requires:

Bachelor's degree in one of the basic sciences or relevant experience in lieu of education.

**MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:**

One year of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.

May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

**Physical Requirements:**

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds constantly and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.
