Assistant Professor of Performance Theory and Practice The Department of Performance Studies at Texas A&M University, College Station seeks an Assistant Professor of Performance Theory and Practice. Applicants will have a research program in performance studies and a demonstrated ability to teach practice courses in areas such as cross-cultural or intercultural performance, devised and site-specific performance, acting and embodied performance styles across cultures, use of technology in performance. Candidates will be committed to interdisciplinary approaches to performance and to world performance traditions. Background in music and/or performance technology desirable. Standard teaching load is 2/2 with high expectations for research productivity. Graduate (MA) and undergraduate (BA) teaching is expected. The successful candidate will contribute to developing the Department s BA in Performance Studies, which integrates music with theatre in the framework of performance studies. Applicants will have completed a PhD in Theatre, Performance Studies, or closely related discipline and a research program with a clear trajectory of sustained productivity at a high level, as well as expertise in embodied performance practices. Applications must include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae; at least one syllabus demonstrating an approach to performance that integrates practice with theory; evidence of successful teaching (observations, student evaluations, awards, etc.); three letters of recommendation.
